July 30, 2019 (Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles Cathedral, John Knox Home, Preston Field)

Leaving Carberry Mansion and it’s picturesque grounds, we arrived this morning in Edinburgh where we picked up two Scottish guides who gave us a tour of the city, as well as taking us through Edinburgh Castle, the St. Giles Cathedral and the home of John Knox.  As our group was working to stay together when walking through the city to each site, we discovered the streets becoming very congested. We were in Edinburgh on the fringe of the beginning of a 3-week yearly festival called the Royal Military Tattoo music festival. The sites were quite interesting.

Finally, after a short rest at our hotel, we had our last dinner together at the Preston Field where we enjoyed a traditional Scottish dinner complete with Haggis (enjoyed my many of our group) as well as being entertained with traditional Scottish music and dancing. It has been clear throughout our two weeks together how very proud the Scots are of their country and heritage.
