Encouraging Bible study through the lens of Christian Science

MISSION & OUTREACH

Biblos Foundation's mission is to encourage Bible study through the lens of Christian Science.

The Foundation carries out its mission through Bible research publications, audio/video study offerings, workshops, and educational programs, with the purpose of (1) advancing an inspired view of Scripture, based upon the religion of Christian Science, and (2) enriching public understanding and appreciation for that view.

NAME

The word “Biblos,” which in Greek means “book,” was selected to honor the Bible, the “Book of books” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, 441:31).

LOGO

Ancient to Christianity, the fish symbol represents both Jesus and his followers. The master Christian told his disciples, "I will make you fishers of men" (Matt. 4:19).

The anchor is one of the oldest art symbols used to represent the cross. The Bible relates the anchor with hope: “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, . . .” (Heb. 6:19, 20). Mary Baker Eddy writes, “The nature of Christianity is peaceful and blessed, but in order to enter into the kingdom, the anchor of hope must be cast beyond the veil of matter into the Shekinah into which Jesus has passed before us;” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, 40:31-2).
