Day 11 – Antioch of Psidia

Antioch of Pisidia – Antioch is a city in the lake district of southwest Asia Minor, in the province of Pisidia. It becomes a Roman province in 6 B.C.E. Paul and Barnabas visit the city on their first journey (Acts 13:13-14) and preach here on many sabbaths (Acts 13:15-44). One of the results of Paul’s preaching is that the whole city comes together to hear the word of God (Acts 13:44). When persecutions arise, Paul and Barnabas shake the dust off their feet and go to another city (Acts 13:50-51). The Jews of Antioch still pursue them to Lystra and Derbe (Acts 14:20). From Derbe they go back to Antioch, Lystra, and Iconium to encourage the disciples to stand firm in the faith (Acts 14:21-22). Paul also refers to Antioch in II Tim. 3:11.
